The fate WE hold

i have never been more excited to be a gov't official. perhaps it was because of the inspiration i got from my 1-yr stay in the Ateneo and being exposed to magis and other Ignatian values. i guess i was too moved by the spirit of service, of excellence that seemed to be in the school i was in for less than a year. hats off to Boyet Dy, by the way! though i don't personally know him.. grabe, hanga ako sayo. the Sanggu President and the Valedictorian (summa cum laude if im not mistaken..?) of Class 2006. darn ang galing. i just read the positions he held over the years, the numerous groups he actively participated in, the various seminars, talks, gov't agncies, etcetera etcetera he had been in and worked for in the course of his 4 years in the Ateneo. i have never been so amazed at the extent of a person's ability to balance such a vast number of activities and maintain an almost cuatro (4) grade. 3.91 ata sya eh.. and that, my friends, is not easy to do, mind you. in one of his interviews regarding college life in the Ateneo, i remember him stating (not in verbatim ha> that it is in emptying ourselves, in losing ourselves in which we regain our completeness as a person. mas maganda pagkasabi niya pero.. ganyan yng gist :P and i couldn't agree more. i have never been more fired up to be of service to the youth in our brangay!!! ;D join in praying that the youth of today may also be inflamed with the spirit of service and zeal for change.. better yet, why not go out there and "be the change"!!! (line ng past sanggu)

projects to do:
*organize a core group of youth leaders/volunteers for involvement and awareness of the power that the youth has through his/her having a voice in what can be done in our own community.. even the whole Philippines :)

*push through with awareness campaign of what's happening in the creek in bfrv.. assemble core group and let youth be involved in the current problem..creek is connected to the river in, if im not mistaken, zapote, which in fact is the only river left alive out of the five in metro manila.. have to not let it die and let families adopt a lot near creek.. maintenance is the key..

*propose the project that wasnt approved before.. formation of mountaineering society and go to mountains that Ben said were being polluted and destroyed by other mountaineers.. under clean and green project. apart from training as mountaineer, will clean up the mountain as group climbs and during the stay there. will also plant trees.. hope that dilg will support our unconventional project.. liquidation of the money will hopefully not be the problem..

*contact gawad kalinga officer re: tie-up project with SK. . GK in bf resort will be great project.. i believe there is truth that if a family has a place to live in and go home to, a certain sense of respect and dignity is formed. the uplifting of the human spirit, i guess. isn't that beautiful?

*sportsfest?.. still not sure since budget might not be sufficient due to the requests of a lot of organizations. need to look at budget/

*continue annual SK Tugtugan.. will acoustic night be included? :)

*have a leadership seminar/training of core group or even in the various high schools in the barangay .. hope to invite Boyet Dy so as to bequeath some tips and advice on becoming an effective leader who promotes positive change in the place he/she is in. may even ask some people from Taft and UP if they know a student-leader from their school that may talk about his/her experiences. would be better if well-rounded.. :D

*form a group that can teach/tutor every saturday to elementary kids in the marginalized areas of the barangay.. i strongly believe in education as a right of every child. i know that through education they may go a long way and achieve that which their heart desires. education equalizes everybody and it is a something that must not be deprived from anyone.

whew.. okay ba? :) if you have any more proposals na projects na pwede naming gawin, propose away!! :) i am so open to suggestions and comments of any kind hehe:)

p.s. rise up and be the change, filipino. rise up and know that your fate is not the statement other peoples are telling you -- a fate of failure and inferiority. you can do something. you have that power inside of you if only you realize that you can do something about what is happening to our country.

"The world you desire can be won. It exists. It is real. It is possible. It is YOURS."

*working or having a job is, and should not be limited to personal gain. work must be a means to affecting change in the lives of various persons, in being the positive change that can lead to a just and peaceful world.. in other words, a better world.*
